Taking a break from putting the finishing touches to tonights social event to up date you on this week.
Monday was a rare evening off for us as it was a bank holiday - so I sat down with a load of dance DVD's to catch up on writing reviews for the website. I also found a bit of time to add some more bits to our YouTube channel! Whenever I get an evening without dance I start examining our current courses and set ups and playing with alternative ideas.

This week has been a week full of dance for me.
Two new courses started on Monday, which is always exciting for me as I get to met a whole new batch of students and introduce them to dancing. The two groups we have for Ballroom and UK Swing Jive seem to great groups and we should cover a lot in the next 10 hours.
Tuesday I spent the day teaching hip hop styled line dancing to 150 eleven year olds. Split into groups of about 30 we did five different sessions showing some simple steps and routines to current chart music including Telephone and Baby. I only had 4 students refuse to get involved the whole day, and some of the kids could really dance - but the most rewarding for me were the students achieved by trying hard and learning something they thought they couldn't do.
Straight from grooving down with 11 year olds to our private lessons, and Tuesday evening saw a lifts lesson for one of our wedding couples. They have chosen Rule the World for their first dance, a beautiful rumba, but we have spiced it up a bit. Both the bride and groom have natural ability, which is a great opportunity to stretch them a bit and add some really spectacular choreography. Despite being a bit more challenging than usual they did great, and with nobody ending up on the floor I think it will look amazing when it's in the whole routine.
Tonight I am off to a new tango club, Carablanca, which is close to Negracha. I'll report back in our reviews section!

It's always exciting when I decide to try a something new, particularly when I want to give you something new to go at!
I've been thinking for a while now that I'd like to put something different in the 5 week June slot, and some of you have been asking for something a bit more challenging so, putting it all together, I've come up with the idea of five weeks of improver level 2 hour lessons.
We're going to be focussing on a different dance each week, and you'll be able to sign up for a few or as many classes as you like! The idea is that it will follow on from the basic lessons you've already got and give you something a bit harder to get your heads around.
We've got a poll going over in our members only area, so if you have an opinion on what dances you'd like to see on that course then log in to vote. So far American Smooth is winning hands down, and you have until April 3rd to get your vote in - and you can vote for as many dances as you like, just wait 20 seconds before voting again.
If you're not already registered, Registration only takes a minute and it's free!

Having never attended an annual dance event before, I really had no idea what to expect when I went to the Move It event last Saturday. My husband Ray wasn’t free so I asked a friend if she would like to accompany me. Kath may not be a dancer but she loves to watch dance.
We set off quite early (well for a Saturday anyway) and made good time. The queue at Olympia was a bit daunting but nothing that a quick cappuccino and toast in an adjacent café couldn’t remedy whilst we waited for it to subside.
