Improver Workshops

Take your dancing to the next level.

We have now developed a series of workshops in most of our dances to help you gain even more confidence in your dancing and to get you to the next level of dancing. The aim of these workshops is to follow on where the courses leave off and to give you some slightly more advanced figures along with technique in footwork, leading and following. However, you do not need to have been on one of our courses to join in – you just need to have to appropriate previous learning.

The workshops will run throughout the year in different dances - including Ballroom, Latin American, Latino (Salsa), East Coast Swing, Swing Jive, Argentine Tango and The Rhythm Dances (Social Foxtrot and Quickstep). The places on these workshops will be strictly limited to just a few couples and given on a first come first served basis.

Improver Ballroom - 18 places remaining

When: Sunday 11th May 2008
When: 2:30pm till 6pm
Where: Small Hall, Beckenham Public Hall
Cost: £15 per person for 3.5 hours tuition and practice

Previous Learning: You need to be able to dance the basic steps of Modern Waltz and Social Foxtrot comfortably. Preferably you will also know the pivot turn. You do not need to have learnt these steps with us.

What we will be Learning:

• Two short figures that can be linked into a longer figure in both dances.
• The Waltz sequence is a traditional, graceful collection of steps, whereas the Social Foxtrot collection is a more modern take with 'Smooth' (open work) elements.
• I shall be posting the names of the figures in both dances here shortly.
